Chapter Too

Who knew that there could be decent brunch in Heathmont? I didn’t, that’s for sure. Chapter Too seems pretty unassuming from the outside, just on a normal suburban shopping strip. However, once you step inside, the funky decor and light fixtures adumbrates a pleasant brunch to be had.

Book covers were painted white and and black eagles were painted on top. I don’t know what that symbolises exactly, but it sure looked cool.

Skinny Flat White – $3.80

The double rosetta was definitely something I don’t see often, and the coffee went down a treat. Smooth yet strong, it was much needed after my flight.

Sharing is Caring – $38.00 w/ Extra Bacon – $4.00

Because I’m not all that cultured and didn’t realise sujuk is a type of Middle Eastern sausage, we ordered some extra bacon. But hey, when’s bacon ever a bad thing? I ain’t complaining.

The bacon were great, I do wish they were cooked a tad more though. The scrambled eggs were silky and wobbly, perfectly cooked.

The thick slices of halloumi were robust and salty, and I love the squeaky sound they make when you chew them!

The hash browns, which were more like potato rostis, were fried until golden brown, but lacked a bit of seasoning.

The avocado was creamy and rich, with a hint of lemon. The feta was rich and creamy, and I used both as a spread for the sourdough. The fried sujuk were spicy with a hint of acidity, and had a great depth of flavour.

There were also two sweet components in this dish: quinoa bircher with honey, yoghurt and blueberry, as well as some sourdough fruit loaf with honey labna. The bircher was crunchy and super filling. The fruit loaf was a little dry, and the labna was too sour for my liking.

Chapter Too has a good variety of dishes on their menu, including a lot of Middle Eastern inspirations. And some good ol’ food puns, who doesn’t love those? If you live around the area, Chapter Too is a great place to visit for brunch, without the travel time.

How to get there:
Chapter Too is located on Canterbury Road, which is a five minute walk away from Heathmont Station, located on the Belgrave train line.
